HCG (Pregynel) Test (adult men)

Purpose
To investigate interstitial (Leydig) cell function in male adults.

Product
Chorionic gonadotropin EndoŽ, 5000 IU vials.

Dose
1 vial containing 5000 IU by IM injection.

Protocol
- Sample (dry or EDTA tube) at 9 a.m. on d0.
- IM injection of 5000 IU hCG.
- Samples (dry or EDTA tubes) at time intervals of 4 hours, 24 hrs (d1), 48 hrs (d2) and 72 hrs (d3) after injection.

Assays
Usually testosterone and oestradiol, sometimes, delta-4 androstenedione and 17-OH progesterone.
